NV4500 is being replaced by the NV5000

Since New Venture Gear stopped production of the NV4500 transmission over 10 years ago, their supply has been increasingly dwindling, unlike their consistent demand. This has resulted in a lack of product availability, causing many to have to go without this essential vehicular component. After years of endless product design, research, and collaboration, we are excited to announce that the launch of our new NV5000 transmission for Dodge heavy-duty pickup applications is finally here! Being manufactured in a heavy-duty ZF facility used exclusively for Midwest Transmission and Proven Force, the NV5000 is the best new transmission on that market, taking the place of the NV4500.

The NV4500 was one of the most popular manual transmissions produced and was used in GM and Dodge heavy-duty pickup applications, gas, and diesel. Another popular transmission in production is Tremec’s TR4050, which is used in many conversion applications now. The issue with this model is that there isn’t a TR4050 for any diesel applications - only gas version conversions. This discrepancy has left a huge hole in the market, which is where the NV5000 comes in. 

The NV5000 conversion kit is rated for 500 horsepower and 500-foot pounds of torque. Right now, it is built into the diesel 4x4 configuration, with more models to follow.

The NV5000 for Dodge is a direct bolt-in replacement for a vehicle’s original NV4500 diesel or the V10 4x4 and is a great conversion unit for those looking to change from an automatic transmission to a manual transmission. It is also a direct conversion for all 1st generation Cummins-powered trucks with the G360 Getrag or automatic transmissions, making it a supreme option for these vehicles.

From the heavy-duty front-bearing retainer to the cast iron extension housing, the NV5000 is cast iron-cased and capable of carrying the heaviest of loads with the strongest of power. Its heavy-duty shell has eliminated the issue of cracking that was seen in the NV4500, making it much more long-lasting and dependable.

The NV5000 gear train is also housed in the main case, getting rid of the 5th gear issues the NV4500 was plagued with for many years. With this, all gears, including reverse, are synchronized, and the NV5000 accepts the NV4500 bell housing and all clutch components.

The NV5000 is also available for automatic to manual transmission, boasting a five-speed manual transmission. All of these improvements have done wonders for the transmission world, offering a premier, top-of-the-line product.
