5 Speed Conversion 300zx Project from Pathfinder

Question: I had a question and was hoping you could help me answer it. I’m doin an ls swap into one of my cars, and rather than spend $3,000 on a t56, one of my friends told me about using the 5 speed from a 300zx (z32) and buying the adapter which will be much cheaper. My dilemma is that there aren’t any 300zxs in my area to get one from. There is an over abundance of pathfinders in May area and was wondering if the 5 speed from a rwd will work the same? , I had a question and was hoping you could help me answer it. Answer: Yes, the 3.0L 300zx or Pathfinder will mount to the engine identically.  The difference is the shifter location and type in the tail housing.  The Pathfinders 4x2 transmissions will all have the shifter assembly bolted to the top rear of the tail housing.  The 300zx transmissions will use various shifter styles depending on the year.  Some of the 300zx transmissions have the shifter assembly bolted to the top rear of the transmission (farther back than the Pathfinder) and later models use a shift rod that exits the rear of the transmission to attach the linkage to.  I don’t have specific dimensions though on the shifter locations, so I wouldn’t be able to give you advice on which version would be best suited for your application. We can provide three options:

1-Remanufactured Nissan Pathfinder/Pickup 3.0L 4x2 5spd manual transmission.

2-Remanufactured 87-89 Nissan 300zx turbo 5spd manual transmission. Shifter assembly bolted to top rear of transmission, farther back than Pathfinder.  Generally not included with transmission as they are sold on an exchange basis where the customer reuses their assembly, but could possibly come up with one)

3-Remanufactured 90-95 Nissan 300zx 5spd manual transmission. (shift rail exits rear of transmission to attach shift linkage to.)
